PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS DIVISION

The Vinton Police Department Professional Standards Division is commanded by Sgt. Cummings and is responsible for the maintenance of the departments policies and procedures, which ensures that all policies and procedures are based on current VLEPSC (Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission) standards and best practices. There are currently 190 standards that Vinton Police Department must comply with continually to maintain accredited status. By maintaining accredited status the community can have confidence that the Vinton Police Department has undergone a rigorous review and will continue to provide the services of a modern, professional police department.

The Professional Standards Division is also responsible for the Internal Affairs function of the Vinton Police Department.
